Wolf in sheep's clothing

Wolf in sheep’s clothing

If you’re looking for art that is beautiful and has a clever moral message to it, then this design is a perfect fit! Geertje Aalders’ paper cuttings come alive on this strikingly beautiful tile, inspired by a classic Aesop’s fable with moral. This design tells the story of a wolf in disguise to be part of a sheep flock. His plan works perfectly, as he has a well-filled belly at the end of the day. However, what goes around comes around, as the shepherd sees him as a lard sheep too and sends him to the slaughter.

Description

Ceramic tiles have been made in and around Delft, The Netherlands, since the 16th century. StoryTiles continues the tradition by creating miniature art-on-tiles.

All tiles are baked in traditional Dutch ovens at a high temperature, what makes them heat and water resistant. Each design is unique, as it is hand baked and designed.

The delicate art pieces come in very cool cardboard packaging, with a nifty hanging system.

Almost all StoryTiles are available in three sizes:

Small: 10 x 10cm
Medium: 13 x 13cm*
Large: 20 x 20cm

*This size is equivalent to the original Dutch tile.

This design is part of the StoryTiles Artist Collaboration and is created by Geertje Aalders.
