Deer at a spring

Deer at a spring

Deer at a spring is a strikingly beautiful design made by Geertje Aalders, known for her detailed paper cuts, and is inspired by the classic Aesop’s fables with moral. This design tells the story of a vain deer, who’s admiring his lovely antlers by starring at his reflection in the spring. However, he’s disappointed of his skinny legs. Little did he know that his long legs will safe him when danger is just around the corner. It is a good lesson to be satisfied with everything that is part of you, as you may need it in the near future.

Description

Ceramic tiles have been made in and around Delft, The Netherlands, since the 16th century. StoryTiles continues the tradition by creating miniature art-on-tiles.

All tiles are baked in traditional Dutch ovens at a high temperature, what makes them heat and water resistant. Each design is unique, as it is hand baked and designed.

The delicate art pieces come in very cool cardboard packaging, with a nifty hanging system.

Almost all StoryTiles are available in three sizes:

Small: 10 x 10cm
Medium: 13 x 13cm*
Large: 20 x 20cm

*This size is equivalent to the original Dutch tile.

This design is part of the StoryTiles Artist Collaboration and is created by Geertje Aalders.
